Storytelling is an ancient art that predates the written word. A storyteller uses his voice to breathe the story to life while using hand-gestures and body language to weave the words together. Native American Indians have been the masters of this art, not only to entertain but as a teaching tool. Without stories knowledge and the folklore of the indigenous people would have been lost. Storytellers were welcomed everywhere they went as they shared stories and learned new ones in most of the places they visited. In today's modern world The tradition of storytelling is still very much alive. Music is a very important part of every culture and Native American storytellers also have a selection of traditional songs they share that along with their stories. These songs themselves are stories, prayers and as ancient as the indigenous cultures they come from. The importance of keeping these stories and songs alive brings us closer to history of their origins. It is with great respect to these beliefs that this program is created and made available to the public.
